Quick answer: In Class 11 Commerce, the Accounting Process unit carries 44 of 80 marks in Accountancy; Business Studies splits 40/40 between Foundation of Business and Finance and Trade; and Economics splits 40/40 between Statistics and Introductory Microeconomics.
For students who have just chosen commerce after Class 10, Class 11 introduces three new subjects at once. Accountancy in particular builds step by step – a weak base in journal entries and ledgers makes Class 12 partnership accounts much harder.

How to revise commerce subjects
- Accountancy: keep a page of rules of debit and credit, the formats of the trial balance and final accounts, and the depreciation methods. Practise a few entries daily rather than many on one day.
- Business Studies: learn each concept as a definition plus three to four points, and use comparison tables for forms of business organisation.
- Economics: statistics is formula-based (mean, median, mode, correlation, index numbers); microeconomics depends on diagrams – draw each curve until you can do it quickly and label it correctly.
Our Class 11 Commerce books cover all three subjects plus Maths: Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics and the Maths formula sheet.
